A drop is flung onto
a heated hotplate
enlivened by evaporation
the drop sputters on
determinedly sizzles
and splits
into smaller drops
then divides into
spitters and spatters
in the madly dancing
hope of escaping
the furious fire
to remain still a drop
just the merest droplet
