Love letter
I licked
plates clean
and saw
how rain drained sadness from the sky
Someone
asked if he could keep ten perch in my fridge
since
when it smells of fish here
water
dripped from his chin
I asked
if he could see to the washing up
and said
that I sometimes had curls and was sometimes a fireman’s wife
then I’d
wave from the engine, even though houses were burning down
at night
I cycled without any lights
but I
can play everything by ear
the
strangest of things
When I
saw someone who looked just like you
I wanted
to press my lips to his
then cut
his heart out of his ribcage
and put
it in a fish bowl
