Poem from Klaus Høeck's collection 'Palimpsest'

FIELD HAND
(1985)

is god a cripple –
is god’s left hand an arti
ficial one he once

in a while unbuck
les and lays aside on a
fallen tree-trunk out

in the field to rest
for a bit in the midst of
his continued la

bours with creation –
does god show that much soli
darity with man?
