The miserly light of the cell aperture,
the contemptuous bucket in the corner
and rattle of insects at night –
the belief was universal
that ideas are best hindered by an iron door.
My newspaper was a threat of an earthquake.
The junta never suspected
that the sketch of a world for humans
can be reduced in size
and smuggled in on an ordinary monday
stuck to the leg of a fly.
