Houses in sun

white houses yellow houses

houses in shadow

the corn ripening on weak feet

houses

knee-high grass and short-legged cows

and again

white gables in the sun

heavy trees

a gravel road eternally twining

houses fields trees

people just breathing the air

grass corn white gables

and again and again

houses cows grass cornfields trees

(there are a lot of us

breathing the blue air here and today)

We have to see all of it

each house each tree each stem

see all of it at one go

from stem to stem and back again

faster

we must prevent the corn maturing

we must prevent sounds becoming sounds

we must prevent anything starting to move

we must get the sun to stand still
